Tuesday 20th March 2007
Despite the freezing cold temperatures a crowd of over 5,000 gathered to see the re-match of the famous FA Cup semi-final between Crystal Palace and Liverpool in aid of the Geoff Thomas Foundation.

There were plenty of faces from the tie back in SE25. Spectators were also treated to seeing some more recent stars strutting their stuff at Selhurst Park and showing their commitment to this worthy cause.

After the success of last years re-match of the 1990 FA Cup final with Manchester United, which raised tremendous amount of funds and awareness for the foundation, this only added to the good work carried out thus far.

Back in 1990 the Eagles won the original tie against the reds at Villa Park when Alan Pardew netted an extra time winner to make the score 4-3, although there wasn’t quite as many goals this year, the tie ended all square at 1-1. However the game was played in tremendous spirit throughout although it has to be said, at a much slower pace than the original game 17 years ago!

It was great to see some of the old faces back at Selhurst Park and whilst most of the physiques had noticeably altered on a number of the returning figures, the spirit and heart of 1990 was visibly still pumping.
